Changing or cancelling your plan
How upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations take effect, and what happens to your workspaces and automations.
Change plan from Billing in your workspace. The direction you're moving decides when it takes effect: upgrades apply immediately, downgrades wait for the end of the period you've paid for.
Upgrading
Pick the plan or tier you want and you'll see exactly what's being charged before you confirm — the new price, credit for the unused part of your current plan, tax, and the total due today.
Confirm and it's live at once. The new allowance, the extra workspaces, and any features the plan adds are available immediately, and the invoice arrives by email.
Moving from monthly to yearly billing counts as an upgrade and works the same way, since you're paying more up front for a longer period.
Downgrading
A downgrade is scheduled rather than applied. You keep the plan you paid for until the end of the current period, then move to the smaller one — nothing is charged or refunded in the meantime.
That includes moving from yearly to monthly billing: it takes effect when the year you've paid for ends.
What a downgrade does to your account
If the smaller plan can't hold what you've built, Nodest adjusts it and emails the organization owner a list of exactly what changed. Nothing is deleted.
| Over the limit | What happens |
|---|---|
| Too many workspaces | The newest ones are disabled, and their automations switched off |
| Automations with too many steps | Paused, left intact |
| Team members, on a plan without team access | Removed from the workspaces |
| Unused action credits | Lapse, if you drop to Starter |
Everything is reversible except the credits. Upgrade again and disabled workspaces come back — oldest first — with their automations ready to switch on, and paused automations can be reactivated or edited to fit. Removed members need re-inviting.
Before downgrading, it's worth checking which workspaces you'd lose. It's the newest ones that go, which isn't always the ones you'd choose.
Cancelling
Cancel from the billing portal, or by contacting support.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep paid features until then, and there are no partial-period refunds. After that your organization moves to Starter, and the adjustments above apply: workspaces beyond the first are disabled, automations over the free limits are paused, team members are removed, and unused credits lapse.
Your account, workspaces, and automations aren't deleted. Coming back later is a matter of picking a plan again.
Choosing a tier instead of a plan
Professional and Business are each sold in volume tiers. Moving between tiers of the same plan changes only your monthly action allowance — the features stay as they are, and no workspaces or automations are affected in either direction.
If the action limit is your problem, change tier. If a feature or a workspace count is, change plan.
