Resetting a password
Reset a forgotten password with a verification code sent to your email address.
If you can't sign in, reset your password from the login screen. The whole thing runs by email, so you need access to the inbox on the account.
The three steps
1. Enter your email address. Choose the reset option on the login screen and enter the address you sign in with. Nodest sends a six-digit code to it.
The confirmation message is deliberately vague — "if an account exists, a reset code was sent" — and it says the same thing whether or not that address has an account. That's intentional: it stops anyone using the form to discover which addresses are registered. If no code arrives, the most likely explanation is a typo or a different address, not a fault.
2. Enter the code. Type the six digits from the email.
3. Choose a new password. It needs to be at least eight characters. Once it's saved you're returned to the login screen to sign in with it. Your new password works immediately. Sign in with it as usual.
If the code doesn't arrive
Check the spam folder first — that's where most of them are.
Then confirm you used the right address. If you signed up with a work address and typed a personal one, the form still says a code was sent, because it says that to everyone.
If you're on a corporate mail server that quarantines automated mail, ask whoever runs it to release messages from Nodest. Try the resend button once the 60-second timer clears, and if nothing arrives after a couple of attempts, contact support.
If you received a code you didn't request
If you didn't request a reset and a code turns up in your inbox, you don't need to do anything — an unused code expires on its own after 15 minutes, and it can't be used without access to your email. If it keeps happening, tell us.
